Thanksgiving Indeed

We had a great, low-key Thanksgiving this year. Uncle Ryan drove in from Colorado with his dog Buddy to celebrate with us and we enjoyed a lot of down time at the house and in the neighborhood.

We ate some pecan pie...

I would be proud to partake

We ate sweet potatoes and chicken (couldn't justify a turkey for three adults and two small people)...

wine and chicken

Mushrooms and peas...

peas and mushies

And it was all too much for Georgia.

A good time was had by all.

The Big 3-1

As Casey often likes to point out, I'm older than he is. BY FOUR MONTHS, I would like to add... it's not like he's 31 and I'm 60 or anything. But because I am kind and generous, I baked him a cake for his birthday even though he calls me an old lady.

He then proceeded to attack with the cake cutter.

Out, candles!

Georgia agreed that it was good.

Happy Birthday, Casey. We love you more than anything.

More to come...

Many photos coming from Thanksgiving and Casey's birthday, but here's a nice one to tide you over.

She picked this out all by herself. Shocking, I know.

Alert! Alert!

Ok, I know I'm behind in photos. Sometimes I just fall off the inspired bandwagon and can't get it together to post pictures, and then I wait a few more days and get some really good ones, and then I don't know which ones to choose and BLEH and such and then I end up posting not at all. And yes, I know that was a run-on and it was entirely necessary. In any case, I resolve to do better. (Sorry, grandparents.)
Halloween photos! Well, sort of. Our Halloween ended up being a stomach-bug laden occasion, so I'll spare the details of that. But I do have costume photos, decoration photos and pumpkin carving photos, so at least there's that.
Onward!

G as TinkerBell. Skirt by mama; shoes, wings and hair by daddy. Seriously. (Skills, I tell you. I bet you didn't know that Casey could do hair.) The skirt is a little wonky but I blame it on the pure polyester that was the fabric. G, of course, couldn't get enough of it. "It's so SPARKLY, mama!" Yes. I am still finding sparkles everywhere. This morning I saw some in my toothbrush. ANYWAY.

surprise!

Pumpkin carving... carried out mainly by Casey and Georgia. I photo'd and Adele cheered them on. She can clap now and it's her favorite thing. Pumpkin carving? A round of applause! Avocado for dinner? Allow me to cheer for that. Bathtime? A standing ovation! You get the idea.

Also, what is the point of having a spiderweb front door if you don't go all out on Halloween?

Happy Halloween! (Video of clapping/carving to follow. If I can ever get Vimeo to accept it.)
