Porch Evolution

Once upon a time, there was a house. It was a small but cozy house and it possessed a small and cozy (read: cramped) back porch.

Said back porch contained a washer, a dryer, a clothesline, a bucket of shoes, and a hot water closet. Inside the hot water closet is what I shall call, for the purposes of this story, the Heater of Doom (HOD for short.) The HOD was the oldest hot water heater this side of the Mississippi. We began to fear that one day it would explode and roast us all in our sleep, so Casey decided the time had come to replace it. Then decided "Heck! Why not replace the whole porch while we're getting rid of the HOD?"

So, being Casey, he did just that.

I present to you, a Porch Evolution.

Mother's Day

Maybe this makes me a bad mom, but for a gift this Mother's Day, Casey gave me... the day off. Sounds weird, doesn't it? Shouldn't I have spent the entire day with the people who made me a mom? But I have to admit, it was nice to have some time to myself. I slept in (until 8:45! Hallelujah!) and then was taken out for bagels. Adele enjoyed her first bagel with cream cheese, which was, uh... interesting. And messy. Then I headed out for a pedicure, which was the ultimate luxury, and spent the rest of the day lounging around at home with Case and the girls. I didn't wash a dish, I didn't cook a meal, I didn't do any laundry or fold any clothes. It was the height of luxury!
Thank you to my wonderful family for realizing that I needed a little downtime... and for letting me be the mama.

Here are a few shots of the day itself, and some others that I just love.

Sleeping Beauty

I think this may be the first time I've ever been able to capture her asleep...
